The silver jewelry casting and production process’s that are explained here are the basic ideas of how we run our production at KBC Jewelry. This gives you the basic idea of how silver jewelry is cast and finished. There are many variables involved and the actual process is much more complicated than it may appear here.

Hand Made Production Process

View photos of how our traditional craftsmen work to make silver jewelry:
- Melting silver to make silver ingot
- Silver forming to make silver sheet
- Silver forming to make silver wire

In Indonesia, all hand made silver jewelry starts from a silver ingot, which is then formed into silver sheet and wire as required for the silver jewelry that is being made.

Silver sheet is used for making bezels and forming shapes etc. Silver wire is used for making ornamental designs on the silver sheet and making Bali jawan etc.

High End Finishing For Plain Silver Jewelry

Finishing process

Pictures 1 - 2 Adjustments and touchup

Unfinished product may need some adjustments or touch up work before proceeding to other finishing process’s. This normally includes steps to adjust the ring size, solder porosity (small holes) and other touchup work according to the shape, and type, of design. At this point, for some items, we do an oxidation treatment, which gives an artificial patina in the recesses (no. 9).

Picture 3 Sanding

This process will smooth out any surface roughness and remove small pits and scratches. This is normally done starting with course grit sandpaper followed by medium then finally fine grit sandpaper. This is the most important step in achieving a high-end finish.

Pictures 4 - 5 Buffing (hand polishing)

The ease of this step depends on how well the sanding process was done. If the sanding was done perfectly, not too much work will be needed in this step. Using high quality buffing compounds and buffing wheels the results will be optimal.

We use only buffing compounds and other supplies that we import from the United States to obtain the best results for our high-end finishing of silver jewelry.

Pictures 6 -10 Quality control

This is the final cleaning, checking the quality, and packaging process done before our merchandise is shipped to locations for sale around the globe. With our experience serving major label and high volume distributors, our quality is exceptional.
